The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS), Canmore database contains details of c.250,000 archaeological sites, monuments, buildings and maritime sites in Scotland, together with an index to the drawings, manuscripts and photographs. This database contains a very large and comprehensive collection of quality photographs of iron and steelworks (and many other industrial sites) thanks to the efforts over many years by John Hume and others. The 12,000 HP Davy Brothers engine for the River Don armour plate mill, the most powerful recriprocating steam engine remaining in Europe, is at the Kelham Island Museum in Sheffield.
