The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS), Canmore database contains details of c.250,000 archaeological sites, monuments, buildings and maritime sites in Scotland, together with an index to the drawings, manuscripts and photographs. This database contains a very large and comprehensive collection of quality photographs of iron and steelworks (and many other industrial sites) thanks to the efforts over many years by John Hume and others. The 12,000 HP Davy Brothers engine for the River Don armour plate mill, the most powerful recriprocating steam engine remaining in Europe, is at the Kelham Island Museum in Sheffield. Iron & Steel subjects include 'HAND ROLLING OF STEEL', an acclaimed video production showing the famous John Bradley rolling mill in use in 1982, written and narrated by W.K.V.Gale. A selection of other sites recorded for posterity include: Bickley's foundry, Walsall at work, DK Recycling, Duisberg, Germany (a long tour of the works in 2002 with the Managing Director), Landschaftpark Duisberg-Nord, Germany: preserved Thyssen blast furnace, gasholder & ore bunkers; plus many remains of disused sites including: Lilleshall Co. Lodge furnaces, Telford, Maddock's ironworks cupola furnace, Telford, Morley Park Ironworks blast furnaces, Heage, Newtown Crommelin blast furnace, Ireland, Creevelea blast furnace, Co.
