2. John Madge (Stephen ) was born in 1772 in India. He died on 13 Oct 1858 in Calcutta, West Bengal.

John married (1) Harriet Phipps on 20 Feb 1798 in Calcutta, West Bengal. Harriet was born in 1783. She died on 17 May 1847 in Calcutta, West Bengal.

On her marriage to John in 1798 she was a ward of the Upper Military Orphan School, she is bu ried in the New Buirial Ground, Circular Road, Calcutta, her inscription reads :-h M ay, 1847, after a union of above 49 years, aged 63 years, 9 months. A faithful, affectionat e and devoted wife, a fond, indulgent and ever anxious mother, deeply and deservedly regrette d."

John and Harriet had the following children:

  4 F i Evelina Jane Madge was born on 19 Nov 1798 in Calcutta, West Bengal. She was christened on 20 Mar 1799. She died on 18 Jan 1845.
        Evelina married (1) Lawrence Macmahon Durack on 25 Mar 1819 in West Bengal. Lawrence died on 29 Oct 1819 in Cuttack, India.
        Evelina married (2) John Lamb on 22 Jul 1820. John was born in 1792. He died in 1820.
+ 5 M ii John Phipps Madge was born on 24 Dec 1800.
+ 6 M iii Wilton Phipps Madge was born on 29 Apr 1815. He died on 7 Jun 1884.

John married (2) Eliza Green on 16 Nov 1850. Eliza was born in Apr 1824. She died on 14 May 1852.

John married (3) Amelia Catherine. Amelia was born on 1 May 1821. She died on 14 Jun 1858.

3. James Madge (Stephen ) was born in 1781 in India. He died on 27 Oct 1844 in Calcutta, West Bengal.

James was Head Assistant for the Chief Engineers Office in Calcutta, gave his name to Madge Lane (previously Madge Garden's) in Calcutta and he was one of the people that signed the farewell address to Lord Minto in 1813.f in his generation by unostentatious benevolence and piety, finally entered into his rest on the 27th October, 1844, aged 63 years, 7 months. "The memory of the just is blessed."

He was buried at The Mission Burial Ground, Park Street, Calcutta, tomb number 38.

The inscription on his grave reads;

In Memory of James Madge, Esq. Senior, who by faith in the Redeemer, having endeared himsel

James married Harriet Grant daughter of James Grant on 3 Feb 1806 in Calcutta, West Bengal. Harriet was born on 29 Sep 1790. She was christened on 25 Jan 1802. She died on 9 May 1864 in Calcutta, West Bengal.

On her marriage to James in 1806 Harriet was a ward of the Upper Military Orphan School, on her marriage day Harriet was given away by Richard Thomas Burney half-brother to Fanny Burney the novelist and Lady in Waiting to Queen Charlote. Harriet was buried at The Mission Burial Ground, Park Street, Calcutta, tomb 38.

James and Harriet had the following children:

  8 M ii Alfred Edwin Madge was born on 26 Dec 1809 in Calcutta, West Bengal. He died on 1 Aug 1837 in Calcutta, West Bengal.

Alfred was buried at The Mission Burial Ground, Park Street, Calcutta, tomb 38.
+ 9 M iii David Walter Madge was born on 13 Sep 1810. He died on 29 Jun 1890.
+ 10 F iv Caroline Amelia Madge was born on 21 Oct 1811. She died in 1890.
+ 11 M v Henry Grant Madge was born on 25 May 1814. He died on 10 Nov 1874.
+ 12 M vi Fredrick Adolphus Madge was born on 21 Nov 1815. He died on 25 Aug 1845.
+ 13 M vii Thomas Augustus Madge was born on 17 Sep 1817. He died on 25 Nov 1890.
+ 14 M viii George Herbert Madge was born on 17 May 1821. He died on 10 Dec 1878.
