An event that no one alive has witnessed, the last one occurred over 120 years ago, the transit of Venus took place on 8 June 2004.  CMHAS members were fortunate to witness it at Crayford, Kent and in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.  Never has the observation of a Venus transit been so ready by so many amateur astronomers.  Members recorder the transit using CCD cameras, digital cameras, webcams and film cameras.  Using the video captured by member's webcams at both Crayford and Egypt it is hoped that accurate timings can be got and therefore an estimate of the Earth's distance from the Sun.  Watch this space for our results!
