The acquisition of a roof  for 401

It is the longer term aim of the group to reinstate the roof on 401 so when it was found that the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust were scrapping an ex Devon General VR (LFJ 868W) the oppotunity was taken to get as many roof and other parts as possible. So April 2008 saw several trips to Freckleton to source what we needed.

                              The windows were removed first followed by the surrounds and interior panels before a start was made on

                    the roof itself.

The roof panels were carefully lowered to the ground and then the framing was dismantled to create an open top bus!

A useful piece of equipment!                                      LFJ when we had finished with it!
