Lodge 320
Visit to
Lodge
Thornham
On the morning of October 5th 2007 some
members of this Lodge travelled down to Oldham to
show the Brethren of Lodge
Thornham how to confer a degree
carry out an exemplification of the E.A. Degree as conferred in Lodge 320.
The majority of the
party departed at about 9.30 in the morning and one car load were back
within 30 minutes because Bro Austin forgot to take his shoes with him.
Eventually, the rearguard, including Davie's shoes, managed to hit the road
and following an otherwise uneventful journey arrived in Oldham in due
course. The hotel was as required in close proximity to one of Oldham's fine
hostelries where the weary travellers replenished lost fluids in the form of
pints of beer. Later some Thornham Brethren picked our intrepid group up from the
hotel for the short journey to the meeting. The conferring foursome, Bros
Gibson, Conn, Innes and Boyd, conferred an excellent degree which
entertained their Thornham hosts despite the obvious handicap of their
chosen substitute candidate. Afterwhich, a few hours of harmony were enjoyed
including an excellent dish of haggis served with a whisky sauce. (Any
excuse for a bevvy). Thereafter, a few more beers were consumed, to ward off
the autumn chill before our brave boys were bussed back to the hotel.
Sincere thanks are extended to all of the Brethren of
Lodge Thornham for their most courteous hospitality.
