In Memory Of Edith Makins Who Died March 7th 1941 Newark's "Black Friday"

The pretty 21 year old Red Head Edith was working at Ransome & Marles when she was tragically killed in the air raid. She had been engaged to be married to a sailor. Her sister Jean still has Edith's collection for her "Bottom Draw" plus the one remaining item Edith had with her at that tragic time; her small purse containing her bus fare home to Collingham, just 2½ old pence. Even after over 60 years the Purse Still Has The Smell of the Factory on it.
