What are Memory Chips?
Memory chips are small integrated circuits which are added to a small circuit board which can then be plugged into the memory slots on the motherboard. They vary in size, for example 128 meg, 256 meg, 512 meg or 1 gig.
You have to be very careful when handling these devices, as they can be destroyed by static electricity from your body or clothing.
It is recommended that you earth your body before touching these devices by touching the bare copper pipe on a radiator so that any build up of static will be earthed before you touch the chips.
You can buy earth straps from various suppliers which are attached to the wrist and then connected to a suitable ground to prevent static buildup.
