I've decided to construct a small 2' by 8' layout to give my trains somewhere to run. Long term, I want something bigger.
The basic features are:
Intres is to be a cheap and cheerful layout with the basic aim to allow me to run trains with basic scenery. This small layout allows me to gradually replace my British stock with continental equipment, and to build up the number of buildings etc.
Above: Take a clear board, stir in some track, add some glue & masking tape... and in the top right, you can see the woodwork remains of the larger layout that I was going to build.
Above: Someone has installed a gas works near my sidings - they never consulted me about it.
In the shot above, you can see that the previous town mayor had installed a 160:1 sculpture of a tape measure, to honour the importance of measurement in the town's history. Now the new mayor has set about installing a new train station, and he intends to replace the British buildings with more continental looking structures.
