Blyth Spartans 3 : Bishop Auckland 0

14 September, 2004

Team: Clementson, Rowe, Foster, Morgan (Scaife 61mins), West (Tobin 75mins), Neil, Moore, Salvin, Hope, Brackstone, Irvine (Skedd 45mins)

Bishops began this away "derby" without a recognised striker and should have scored more than one in a dominant opening 20 minutes.

Salvin rounded the keeper but was unable to find the net from a tight angle early in the game.  Another chance fell to Brackstone who fired well wide from the edge of the box.

Blyth did what Bishops couldn't when substitute Phillips beat Rowe convincingly and shot low across Clementson into the far corner of the net on 34 minutes.

Bishops created further chances early in the second half.  Salvin headed over from a corner just before the hour, but Blyth struck again when a hopelessly scuffed clearance went straight to Summers who shot home from close range on 63 minutes.

Summers scored again on 72 minutes to end the game as a contest and drop Bishops back into the relegation places.
