Northern Premier League Division 1

Eastwood Town 2 : Bishop Auckland 0

8 October, 2005

Team:  Horrigon, Danny McGuckin, Irvine, Aaron Fletcher, Coulthard, West, Stephen Morrison, Bell, Sheeran, Damon Robson, Jackson

New players were again drafted in after a concerted effort by Tony Hall, Tony Duffy, Tony Boylan and Steven Bell as Bishops headed down to Eastwood for the third away fixture of the week.  The team showed five changes from that which had performed so valiantly at Ossett in midweek.

Eastwood created the first good chance when the dangerous Mushambi turned McGuckin but Horrigan saved his shot.

Bishops had a half chance on 25 minutes when the impressive Jackson fired just wide of the post.

Eastwood took the lead on 30 minutes when the Bishops defence failed to effectively clear a corner and Meikle fired home.  Horrigan was incensed by the award of the goal, believing he had been fouled, and received a yellow card for his protest.

Mushambi almost added to Eastwood's lead on 32 minutes but his low shot went just wide.

Kicking up the slope, and into incessant rain, Bishops failed to trouble Eastwood in the second half and Cooper came close to scoring for the hosts on 58 minutes but his shot was tipped over by Horrigan.

Peter Knox scored on 67 minutes with a well placed header which gave Horrigan no chance.

Bishops at least finished the day on an upbeat note by announcing the appointment of Brian Healy as their new Team Manager.
