Northern Premier League Division 1

Rossendale United 3 : Bishop Auckland 0

2 January, 2006

Team:  John Mohan, Paul Collins, Baynes, Sean Davies, Matty Hysen (Paul Crager 46mins), Andy O'Shea, Simon O'Shea (Stephen Winspear 63mins), Robbie Clarkson, Mark Sheeran, Graham Robinson, Daniel Newby.

Bishop Auckland started the new year as they ended the previous year, with a 3-0 away defeat to a modest lower mid table side.

It was a nightmare start when Hysen charged down the ball in the box and was adjudged to have handled in the process.  Mohan dived the right way, but Morley's 9th minute spot kick was right in the bottom corner.

Bishops created no chances of note in the first half, and on 37 minutes were two down when Davies failed in his claims for offside.  The resulting shot bounced off the post directly to Koslowski who had the easy task of beating the defender on the line from close range.

Bishops came out in better form in the second half and soon after the restart a free kick was headed by Davies straight at veteran 'keeper Felgate.  On 56 minutes Simon O'Shea was floored in the box, but a free-kick was awarded against the Two Blues player.

Debutant Graham Robinson found space to fire a shot in on 61 minutes, but again found the 'keeper well placed to take the ball cleanly.

Rossendale added a third goal on 80 minutes to seal the game.
