Northern Premier League Division 1
Bamber Bridge 7 : Bishop Auckland 2
21 January, 2006
Team: John Mohan, James Crossman (Daniel Newby 60mins), Steven Baynes, Sean Davies, Matt Hysen, Sonny Parker, Andrew O'Shea (Martin Barwick 37mins), Robbie Clarkson (Simon O'Shea 67mins), Matty Hysen, Mark Sheeran, Martin Bowes, Graham Robinson
Bishops frailties were cruelly exposed by a rampant Bamber Bridge on a fine January afternoon at the Irongate ground. Bishops had an early chance when Andy O'Shea headed into the home keeper's hands after 5 minutes and at the other end John Mohan did well in tipping over a well struck shot.

Play was finely balanced until the 20th minute when Spencer tapped a rebound into the net to put the home side in front. This put a spring into Brig's step and this was not helped when Andy O'Shea was stretchered off (and eventually to hospital) with suspected cruciate ligament damage.
In the 40th minute Matty
Hysen then made a bad error and gave away possession to Spencer who netted his
and the home team's second, and just before half time the same man hit a third
with a superb 25 yard effort.
Straight after the re-start Spencer bagged a fourth and Porter took advantage of
some slack defending to hit the fifith before Mark Sheeran headed in from a
great piece of work from Steven Baynes but Bennett made it six and Spencer got
his fifth before Simon O'Shea got a late consolation.

2nd
Half: Stern Resistance from Bishops - Picture (c) FILMAR Photography
The worst defeat of the season and little to cheer for the Bishops supporters.
Bishops now have completed half their programme and can only hope the second
half of the season is a lot better.
The defeat is Bishops heaviest since November 2004, and the first time Bishops had conceded seven since November 2003.
