Billingham Synthonia 3 : Bishop Auckland 1

Team:  Chris Porter, Paul Collins, Paul Crager, Craig Winter, Paul Griffith, Robbie Clarkson, Bryan Stewart, Paul Cambpell, Lee Johnston (Adam Clough 76mins), Daryll Evans (Joe Fairish 86mins), Dale Mendum

A disappointing performance against FA Vase Semi Finalists ended in late defeat, but Billingham should have secured the points much earlier in the evening.

Billingham hit the outside of the post on five minutes and had most of the play in the first half.  On 20 minutes Bryan Stewart, comfortably Bishops best player on the night, cut in from the right and fired in a low shot which was well saved by Jackson.

Bishops were behind on 21 minutes when a low cross to an unmarked Neil Campbell found the big striker with plenty of time to fire low past Porter.

Clarkson almost equalised on 22 minutes when he fired a thrity yard free kick which was heading to the top corner until pushed over the bar.

Billingham looked dangerous putting in a series of crosses which stretched the Bishops defence including one on 41 minutes which Winter cleared off the line.

For the second game in a row Stewart capitalised on a bad back pass.  This time a pass along Billingham’s back line was intercepted before the winger cut in and shot over Jackson from the end of the box to make it 1-1.

Campbell brought out a good save from Porter on 70 minutes with a diving touch past the post.  The striker pounced on indecision in the Bishops defence a minute later firing home to make it 2-1.   A third was added in injury time.
