Roofing BCA 1
Team: Chris Porter,
Paul Griffith, Dominic Gamble, Paul Crager, Jason Newall, Joe Fairish, Paul Harvey,
Scott Richards, Daryll Evans, Gavin Parkin, Dale Mendum (Darren Richardson
86mins)
A hectic few days after manager
Gavin Parkin showed us what we’d
been missing when he latched onto a through ball and clipped the ball over the
advancing ‘keeper from 20 yards for his fifth goal in five league games.

Bishops had control of the game
but a series of flashpoints and tetchy tackles boiled over on 35 minutes when
Joe Fairish was fouled from behind by Paul Hodgson and threatened to lash out
at Paul Catto. Although no contact was
made, Catto took the opportunity to embelish and convinced the referee that a
red card for the Bishops player was appropriate.

With Bishops still re-organising,
Roofing equalised on 40 minutes.
Jarrow were dictating play in the
second half but Evans almost gave the Bishops the lead back with a great
swerving shot on 53 mintes from 22 yards but ‘keeper Frater dived full length
to block with a firm arm at the left hand post.
Crager stumbled on 62 minutes but
Porter saved the day with an excellent double save.
Dale Mendum was dangerous down
the left, and on 68 minutes found space to fire in a good cross to Parkin whose
shot from the edge of the area was charged down and deflected to safety.
Although Roofing had plenty of
possession, Bishops ten me defended resolutely.
The closest they came to taking all three points was from a free-kick
which struck the top of the bar.
Another point earned which extend
Bishops unbeaten league run to four games.
