Bishop Auckland 0 : Newcastle Benfield 4

Team: Chris Porter, Lee Foster, Arjun Purewal, Lewis Hardman (Adam Strong 16mins), Martin Langley, Andrew Davies, Stephen Salvin, Scott Richards, Gavin Barton,  Gavin Parkin, Darren Richardson

A gloomy and cold day, and as the evening progressed things got colder and more gloomy as Bishops slumped to another defeat at West Auckland.  New signing Lewis Hardman started, with Darren Richardson, Martin Langley and Andrew Davies back in the side.

Bishops are now notoriously vulnerable in the sixth minute but this time Porter pushed the dipping free kick onto the bar and the ball was hacked to safety.

Hardman was injured early on, and Adam Strong joined the battle on 16 minutes.

Chances at both ends, but Benfield looked the most dangerous with Davies heading off the line with Porter beaten.  At the other end just before the half hour Richards crossed for Arjun Purewal but his weak header was easily collected by Grainger in the Plastic goals.

A minute later and Bishops were a goal down.  Chilton headed home a deep cross.

Porter made a great low save just a couple of minutes later to keep the game at 1-0, but a second goal was added on 40 minutes.  Bishops needlessly conceded a throw in deep in their own half, and the ball was knocked into the box.  Chilton finished from close range after an outrageous handball in the build up went unnoticed by the officials.

The rain came at half time and the pitch became heavier as the game wore on.  Anthony added a third goal to put the game out of Bishops reach, and in the dying minutes Nicholson fired home after Porter could only parry his original shot.

Twelve games without a win now, and Consett next up on Saturday.
