Once wild and dangerous, Northumberland, hosts over fifty of the country’s finest castles, amongst them Bamburgh, Alnwick (location of Harry Potter’s Hogwarts) , and Lindisfarne on Holy Island , birthplace of Christianity in England. (Holy Island is accessed by Cause way, be sure to check tide times to avoid disappointment)
To the South, only half an hour’s journey away is the Historic yet vibrant City of Newcastle upon Tyne. The once walled city Newcastle was of significant strategic military importance to the Romans and William the Conquer. There are so many attraction in the centre of Newcastle it’s impossible to list them all. Shops, restaurants, night life, theatre’s, art galleries, castle, roman heritage. The famous Newcastle Bridge and the New Millennium Bridge, if you’re lucky you might even see it blink!.
