This was the 9th year of the Crantock annual Big Bale Push. This competition has so far raised over £35,000 for key charities close to the heart of the local community. The Big Bale Push is a fun event for all ages. The races are run in teams of four pushing a full-sized round bale of straw weighing approximately 420 lbs and measuring 4’ 6” in diameter over courses of differing length according to the class of race. The main course for the “180 veterans”, and “The Open” is run over a full quarter of a mile through the village, both up and down hill, starting and finishing between the two village pubs - “The Cornishman” and “The Old Albion” . |

The Bale Push Evening is always very busy and exciting and the age groups are keenly fought to achieve that all important winning time. Last year we had 64 teams taking part – including an incredible 29 teams in the open competition, and this year’s event looks to be bigger and better.
