"We should have a diverse, tolerant, pluralistic and democratic society in which there is mutual respect for a wide range of different views, cultures and lifestyles. Anybody who dares to suggest otherwise should be ruthlessly exterminated."

This is the website of me, John Cartwright. I was for many years a member of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party, but now I am a Conservative. Having gone from being a big fish in a small pond, I am now a small fish in a big pond. I was delighted to have played my part in securing the re-election in May 2015 of my brilliant MP, Gavin Barwell, in Croydon Central constituency, but I have retired from standing as a candidate in local and parliamentary elections myself. Accordingly, this website has been reduced to a minimal version, and I no longer post regular comments on topical issues in the news or politics. For my thoughts and comments on those and other issues, follow me on Twitter @JohnLoony.

My first venture onto the political stage was with the Chocolate Fudge Cake Party in the local elections of 1994, when I received 175 votes. From 1996 to 2013, I was a member of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party. In the 2001, 2005 and 2010 General Elections, I received 408 and 193 and 192 votes respectively for the OMRLP in Croydon Central constituency.

I was a member of the Electoral Reform Society (1995-2015), and was formerly a member of the Constitutional Monarchy Association (1998-2001), and the so-called Liberal Party (1999-2001). I resigned from the so-called Liberal Party because I discovered that its then leadership was incompetent, undemocratic, and not liberal. I went to Trinity School, Croydon (1979-87) and Royal Holloway, University of London (1991-95).
