History is a fascinating subject, especially when one's declared intent is to mislead and misinform. While we at the Museum aim to be definitvely misleading in all things, however, history is one field in which we have been spectacularly pre-empted. Anyone wishing to study the subject in depth need look no further than W. C. Sellar and R. J. Yeatman's seminal work, '1066 and All That', and we can only say that anyone who has not yet read this book should do so without delay. This superb volume covers the whole of English history and, as far as misinformative works go, is without peer. We would not pretend to equal Sellar and Yeatman for inventiveness or wit, but in the History Gallery we do attempt to fill in some of the more obvious gaps in their knowledge with completely bogus historical events.
