How we handle E-mails and Web-links
(a) How we display e-mail addresses!
Privacy on our Page of Links - and reducing the chance of
'Spam' (unsolicited e-mails)
We display e-mails in an unconventional form on our 'links' page. We do this to make it much more difficult for those
who wish to compile lists of e-mails for the purposes of 'Spam'. Such 'spammers'
often resort to automated scouring across websites, looking for lists with the tell-tale @
symbol. Our links page explains how to manually recover the true address.
(b) Our Links Page
Some of our contacts occur in several pages of our website - and when (as seems to happen
quite often!) they notify us of a change in their e-mail, we would have several updates to
make. To avoid this, we are in the process of gathering all web-addresses and
e-mails onto one page (select here to go to it), so that when we
are notified of a change in e-mail address, we have only one external link to maintain.
This means that usually it requires an extra step to see the true
address. (The exception to this gathering is on our list of Events, where
for convenience we display directly the address. )
With the wide availability of modern browser software 'for free', there seems no valid reason to limit a web-sites to the limitations of older browsers - for example those which cannot display frames. This site assumes a minimum configuration of Netscape 4 or Internet Explorer 4.
At the ideal resolution for viewing of 800 x 600 (SuperVGA), all the pages should display without the need to scroll horizontally.
Our Site Address and our E-mail address
Our published address www.ctkent.org.uk is an alias for where the site is physically located, which is what you will see in the address bar of your browser. Please do not bookmark this physical site address - as it will change. Instead, always go in through www.ctkent.org.uk
Likewise, when we send an e-mail it may well come from a temporary location - in your address book please always use our published address info@ctkent.org.uk which will always automatically be forwarded to us.
Still got a Problem?
If you still have a problem using our site, we would like to know - so please do contact us on our email.
