Some personal comments about my
pictures
(click on the thumbnail images to
Burntisland. The town I grew up in, got married in and Carey and I had
our first Daughter in so to say it's close to my heart is an understatement. To
date I've done three of these pictures with another three planned. Two have been
sepia and the one I've just finished is in
colour. All the Burntisland pictures I've done (and plan to do) have been as gifts
- for those who received them, I hope you enjoy. Thanks for everything you have
given us in your own ways - you know who you are!
Gourdon. Our home village now for over three and a half years. It was a
smaller version of this pic (five instead of eight images I think) that I sold
at last years Gourdon Gala (2006). To date, from this years Gala, I've made and
sold 3 with five to follow. These are a mixture of Colour and Black and White
but my personal favourite is still the Sepia. The "profit" from these goes back
to the Gala Fund.
Gourdon View 2. My first real "commission". A couple from Gourdon asked
me on the day of the Gala if I could try the same idea from a different angle so
that the finished item would show both their house and the Fishing Boat "Emma
Kathleen" moored in the harbour. I eventually managed to get it right
(challenged by the poor weather of 2007 and of course making sure that (a) the
boat was in and (b) tide was high etc) from the pier that defines the main
harbour. The B&W images with the white matboard and black frame is, even if it's
me that says so, really striking. Again the profit goes to the Gourdon Gala
Fund.
Inverbervie. No pier so a tricky one for me - ventured into new territory
and tried a few different places but where I landed up (the road to Kinghornie
farm) gave me the qualities that I think of when someone says 'Bervie - the
Jubillee bridge, the Church, the Beach and Bay and of course the Caravan site!
Again the profit goes to the Gourdon Gala Fund.
Catterline. The first location that I ever did of my "8's" series (8
being the number of images per frame). For those that know what Catterline looks
like, they'll see that this gives a pretty unique representation of the area -
it even includes (on the far right) what is known locally as the XXX (can't
remember right now - will update when I do!). Again the profit goes to the
Gourdon Gala Fund.
Johnshaven. My second set that I did. Yet again the profit goes to the
Gourdon Gala Fund.
Enterprise - Image to follow..... This was a present I made for my Step-Father Ross. It took a bit of time to find the images (thanks Google!) but with us both being avid Trekkers, I enjoyed making it and I know he liked it. This is when I really was an amateur - the frame is made out of and old bed!!!
Matthews Rugby Top - Image
to follow..... . Again another gift, or perhaps "re-payment of sorts"
is a better phrase. Leona and Mike were there for Carey, myself and the girls
during a bad patch and I did this for them by way of a small token of Thanks. I
wrote to the SRU and they were good enough to provide a signed team photo which
I incorporated into the piece (Matthews first Rugby top is the main aspect - it
was from when he was 3 I think.....Leona....?)

Australia Prints - until I update this later - Davy, where the h*ll is my
print of the Twelve Apostles that you promosed me as part of the deal?
Braveheart - Image and blog to follow.
Highlander - Image and blog to follow.
"Someones rolled up all the fields" - Image and blog to follow.
Bannermans
of Gourdon - A look back to 1928 at a building that has changed a fair bit in
its use, but is still recognisable to most.....
