| I'm already a member of my school orchestra. Why
should I join another? CYCO is not a
replacement for your school orchestra, but an addition to it. You will have the
opportunity to develop and improve your orchestral skills under the direction
of a professional conductor and to meet other musicians. |
How much time will CYCO require?
We generally meet one Sunday a month for rehearsals and
to perform public concerts. |
Won't the auditions be hard?
They are not meant to be an ordeal, although a high standard
is expected. George Reynolds is looking for potential as well as grades achieved
and will use the auditions to plan the years repertoire. As a guide - string players
should be Grade 4 standard and above, others Grade 5 and above. We
also have a Junior Orchestra where Grade 1 (and upwards) players are more than
welcome. |
How old are the players?
It varies from year to year, but on average from 9
to 19 years old |
I've heard CYCO goes abroad.
Yes, but not recently.. CYCO's most recent foreign tours
have been to Lake Garda, Italy and Avignon, France. The whole experience was very
rewarding and proved to be a great success. We played in a number of venues to
appreciative audiences of locals and tourists. Everyone had a really good time.
|
What music does CYCO play?
Our repertoire is decided by George Reynolds and has
in recent years included Bach - Brandenburg Concertos; Schubert - Rosamunde overture
and Souza - Liberty Bell. Our conductor is always open to suggestions from the
players |
It sounds interesting. How can I find out more?
If you would like to meet players before committing yourself,
then come along to a rehearsal. We are very friendly. Telephone the Recruitment
Secretary to make arrangements. You could come to a concert and see what you think.

How do I join?
Complete the application
form and send it as detailed in the form. You have not committed yourself
to anything. If you feel that the contributions might be a problem, please talk
to anyone on the committee about it. We are much more interested
in your music than your money! |
