The Orchestra's Year
JulyThe orchestra is re-formed in July when George Reynolds holds auditions for both established and new players. Setting the tone for the year ahead, these auditions help the Musical Director to see how best to deploy the musicians and to plan the repertoire and tuition for the year.
Auditions Auditions consist of two contrasting pieces of the players choice and a piece of sight reading.
Weekend Workshops After the auditions there are 2 separate workshops in September and then again during the October half term. In addition to rehearsing, expert tuition is provided by sectional specialists. The players always enjoy the course, making good friends while working together, which results in a very happy orchestra. The first concert is usually an informal one held on the last day of the second workshop.
Rehearsals Rehearsals are then held one Sunday every other month, usually in Nayland. We try to have regular public performances on the alternate months.
Venues CYCO has recently played at such venues as The Moot Hall, Colchester; St.Peters Church, Sudbury and St James Church, Nayland. CYCO also regularly appears at the Charter Hall, Colchester, accompanying the Colchester Choral Society during the 'Carols for All' concert at Christmas.
