Network
All applications are easily networked and the diagram below gives a conceptual overview of how the applications are configured in a network. These applications are very flexible and can easily be introduced into an existing network. The four major constituents (i.e. web server, application server, database server, client) can be distributed on separate computers running different operating systems or all reside on one computer.
The client machines only need to be capable of running a modern day browser and will happily run on existing systems that are already running more demanding applications. Clients can print to any printer on the network.
Both AtoB and Drivers can run on the same server machine with no noticeable impact on performance.
Networking an application introduces security issues. All applications have security built-in, all require a user to login before being allowed to perform any modifications to the systems data. Should the user walk off and forget to logout the system will automatically log the user out after a predetermined time.
The network provides a flexible way of backing up the system data. Several computers in the network can be scheduled to backup the data at different times throughout the day. This strategy reduces the likelihood of loss of data due to machine failure and reduces the amount of potential data lost.
