From Embroiderer to Textile Artist – A journey with a needle . In this talk Kath explains how her love of embroidery started at an early age and continued when she returned to college once her children were at school. She is now a needle addict but refuses to go into rehab!

 

Glimpses of Venice and Beyond- How a little book entitled Stones of Venice by John Ruskin inspired a whole set of HNC Stitched Textile course work and an excuse for several holidays to Venice.

 

Bowled Over-A talk about the unique silk bowls which accompany the Book beautiful Bowls and Colourful Creatures and of course the Creatures.

 

WORKSHOPS

Basic felt Making- In the morning you will learn how to make a ‘controlled’ piece of Felt from fleece and silk fibres and dye it with acid dyes.
In the afternoon you will ‘go wild’ by letting your imagination run riot to make a small hanging using all kinds of bits and pieces added to the felt or a small bag.

 

Making the base for a felt mask- This makes a good Guild Competition. Using a mould you will make a felt mask which you will be able to take away and decorate.

 

 NEW- Silk bowls workshop. Make an exquisite machine embroidered silk bowl. This can be a one or a two day workshop either as a group at your venue or one to one at my house including bed & breakfast  and evening meal. Get in touch for details and prices.

 

Venetian Purse Make a purse based on Venetian design or a double sided CD case decoration from layered sheer fabrics using free machine embroidery . 

New Fabric jewellery Make a lovely piece of jewellery from layered organza rolled beads using free machine embroidery. Make necklaces, earrings, bracelets or brooches.

 

Murder Mystery Play Shear Murder The Ladies of Little Needleham-under-Pinning are meeting to Embroider a wall hanging for their local village hall.
