Darrens story
My name is Darren and i'm thirty four years old and was diagnosed with Marfans at the age of about twelve. My father also had marfans, he died when I was about one. My father died of they think an aortic aneurysm.
When I was fourteen I was sent to harefield hospital in London to check on my heart. Within a few weeks afterwards they sent for me to have an aortic dissection which was performed by my surgeon sir Magdi Yacoub. I have had no problems with the surgery he performed.
He did an excellent job. I have the “classic” features of marfans, tall long limbs, glasses for short sightedness, and high pallet.
