Anastasia Dobromyslova
Anastasia Dobromyslova is a 24 years old Russian beauty, born in Tver near to where the Volga meets another river. Although she has been crowned the Russian darts champion some 6 times, she now calls Ellesmere Port her home and has just married Tony Martin who has been a well known British darts player for many years and who has been on the P.D.C. circuit. Indeed, Anastasia only recently came back from her honeymoon in Egypt.
Born
on the 26th of September 1984 one might be tempted to think that she is just too
young to have much match experience in the male dominated world of darts, but
she started playing darts at the age of 11 and has been playing seriously for
about 10 years. She started her career by winning a major youth championship way
back in 1999, ( when she would only have been 15 years old) quickly followed by
many others. One of Anastasias biggest successes was to beat Trina
Gulliver in the Dutch Open in 2004 and again in the final of the B.D.O.
Ladies Championship 2008. (Report On Big AL's Darts
Site)
Anastasia has just done something that very few Lady darts
players have ever done and that is competed on a level playing field with
professional male players in a World Class Competition. She recently
played in the UK Open against Robert Thornton and the game went to the last leg
when she narrowly lost. Qualifying for The Grand Slam Of Darts this year, she
played World Champion John Part in her first round of the round robin heats.
Wolf whistles greeted Anastasia as she walked onto the stage and booing
accompanied John Part in the Woverhampton Civic Hall. She outscored John in the
first 2 legs and could have been 2-0 up, but couldn’t finish and John came
back on form in the 3rd as she lost her way. On the 4rth she was 200 in front
and won it, making it 3-1. Her average of over 80 was
brought down by her poor finishing. Eventually Anastasia lost 5-1 with an
average of 75.91, which against John Parts average of 78.22, (When he is a World
Men's Champion) looked quite good. Even John admitted afterwards that if she had
hit her doubles he would have lost. In the next round she also took 4 straight
legs off another Pro, Wane Mardle. Although Anastasia did not do well enough in
the round robin heats to progress, and was therefore knocked out, she received a
rather nice £4,000 cheque simply for being a qualifier.
As the World Ladies Number One Anastasia was invited to play in the Pro/Celebrity Challenge that was held the night the night before at the same venue. She partnered Steve Davis and they both put in a good performance.
Anastasia is one young Lady that has shown time and time again that she can certainly handle herself on a dart board, and although she is not a particularly tall girl, standing at 5 feet 8 inches, with her other favourite sport being Kick Boxing, she can also handle herself off the board as well. She is currently looking for a sponsor and her web-site can be found on the following link;- www.anastasiadobromyslova.co.uk
