Return To Big ALs Darts Return to Rugeley Darts League
Local Darts Players Involved In New Pub & Fete
Darts
player Debbie Hamlyn as was, (now Donovan, at the moment!) used to play for the
Great Haywood Sports And Social Club and at one time Captained the Ladies Darts
Team at the Red Lion Little Haywood. Now she has moved on to new things by
taking over the Labour In Vain pub at Yarnfield, near Stone, with her partner
Vince. A few weeks ago they took over the run down pub and are rapidly getting
it back on its feet with the help of a couple of other well known (locally)
darters in the shape of Pat Evans in the kitchens (Ex Landlady of the Crown at Yarlet
Bank, played for the Roebuck in Weston Ladies League) and Geof Taylor their new
Bar Manager. (played for Prince and Libbys in Rugeley League, G.H.S.S.C. and
Bankhouse in Weston League)
The pub is hoping to bring back any and all of their old teams for darts, dominoes, crib, etc and already has a quiz night organised. Having said that, they also do a very nice pub lunch and hope to extend their menus both at lunchtime and in an evening.
Being
a village pub the new owners are also throwing themselves into village life by
getting involved with the village fete. It is some ten years since the fete last
ran, but Saturday June the 6th 1-30 pm will see its return to raise
money for Stone First Responders and the Village Forum. Landlady Debbie will be
on the Inflatable Assault Course for the kids and Vince will be manning the Beer
Tent, or should that be the other way round with Debbie manning the assault
course and Vince on the Beer!
The
organisers of the Yarnfield Fete are going all out to make its resurrection a
memorable one with all the usual attractions, plus a demonstration by the Fire
Service involving a rescue from a crashed car and a performance by the Uttoxeter
Hearts of Oak Morris Men. For Stoke City football fans memorabilia will be
available to buy and there will be a classic car display as well for any car
enthusiasts.
