Robbie “Kong” Green
Robbie
Green has gained the nickname of “Kong”
perhaps because he is a big lad as dart players often are. He is aged 31 and has
been married to his wife Paula for 8 years with two children called Jamie and
Chelsea. Darts is obviously his passion and since turning Pro it is
also his livelihood. Not surprisingly he counts Eric Bristow and John Lowe
amongst his sporting hero’s, but also Kenny Dalglish and he follows Liverpool
Football Club.
Robbie
has been playing for 15 years and has played for the Merseyside County team from
the age of 18 till he was 28 and then he had one season with Clwyd before
turning Pro last year. In his 1st season as a Pro Robbie has gone from 350th to
78th in the world rankings. Kong as he is known has made 2 televised finals in
his 1st season and as he says “Things are going well.” He has just recently
signed a sponsorship deal with Unicorn who’s darts he plays with.
Robbie
has won numerous minor competitions since he became the northwest junior
champion at a tender age. He has proved himself to be a champion in competitions
such as the Clwyd Open in 2003, the Carlton Open, again in 2003 and he was also
a semi finalist in the Shropshire Open 2003. He was a runner up in 2004 in the
Welsh classic and reached the last 32 in the Budweiser UK Open which was
televised. Again in 2004 he was a qualifier in the World Matchplay and was a
runner up in the Gwynedd Open in 2005. Also in 2005 Robbie was in the Hyde Open
Final.
As
a pro he is available for exhibitions, presentations, etc and like so many these
days, has his own web-site that you can visit by clicking
