Changes
To The Web-site.
Just
before the new season was about to start Graham asked me if I could display a
list of the players with the most wins on the Web-site. The idea of this was to
add a bit of competition to those who might be eligible for the Memorial
challenge at the end of the season. I perhaps foolishly said yes of course and
then spent several hours trying to work out a system to record and display the
records. Graham wanted it to list the top 16 players, but it proved easier in
the end to list every single player in the league. After several attempts to
sort out an appropriate system I think I have come up with something that will
be approved of by most people.
On
the “League Tables” page is a link to a spreadsheet that displays every team
in the league with every player listed and another page with all players listed
in order of most wins. Each player has their individual wins/losses recorded
against their names for all to see. The score for a loss against a player is
either a Zero or a One depending on whether they won a leg and a win is of
course a two. One big benefit for all this work is that in the event of a tie
for any place in the league at the end of the season, not only will wins/losses
be able to differentiate positions, but also actual players legs. Running totals
of all points are displayed on each teams records for all to see. A further
advantage of displaying the records like this is that anybody can easily check
their results and dispute them if errors have been made.
Now
that the system is set up it will not really take any longer for me to record
the results each week than before, but we will have to see if it can be kept up
to date and how every body reacts to their performance being revealed for all
the WORLD to see!
