Round The Boards 14th June 2010
The
Castle have come in for some stick this week for having the points and not
re-arranging their game against Libbys, supposedly on the grounds that they
feared to play without Ryan who has moved over to Burton. Big Dave suggested;-
“PRESUMING THE SEMIS AND FINAL ARE AT THE CASTLE ON JULY 5 CAN'T THE GAME BE PLAYED IN THE BAR WHILE THE FIRST SEMI-FINAL IS BEING PLAYED?”
Later he posted the following;-
“GREEN ARMY FOUGHT OUT A DRAW AS MR EDITOR HAS MENTIONED. THANX FOR ANOTHER ENJOYABLE EVENING AT THE CASTLE. CAN YOU ASK ANT WHEN DO I GET TO PICK ME PINT UP THAT I WON AND HOW DID HE GET ON LAST NIGHT MR EDITOR?
A bit more of a report came from “Conspiracy Theory”
“A pleasant evening at the Mansfield for the “Steamroller” this week, coming away with a 6-2 victory. Depending how the Swan v Plough “A” went that could be their league position secured before the final game at the Castle (unless they cancel and claim it 8-0) 7-1 to the Castle in the first half, so we will be looking for revenge, with only pride to play for, or fifth spot???
Another little dig at the Castle and their cancellation.
Pride Lion said;-
“Well
done to Castle “B” (Libbys) for securing 2nd place goin’ out wiv a bang as
it’s their last season on a Monday nite, so the rumours have it anyway,
apparently they prefer 501”
The highlights of my teams match of the Prince Of Wales “A” (Chase) V Prince Of Wales “B” (Pig And Bell”) are as follows;- (Link for full report)
The two Captains of S Farrelly and Acting Captain Jim Baird, put up a great performance to start the evening and some great games with fantastic shots followed, but there was some true rubbish finishing during the match for some players as well with a bit of late starting thrown in for good measure. Tam McKail managed his first 180 this season as well as a 103 break and Mark Hylton hit yet another 160 start. Mark brushed S Farrelly who had had a 105 start earlier against Jim in the Captains during which Jim had a 140 score and 120 break. Later Rob Holroyd had B Southworth on a brush, but Southworth came down, just missed a brilliant 153 finish and still won. I ran out of chalk marking Tam and Aden’s game of doubles, but I must add that is no criticism of their game! Final score 7 – 1.
