Match Played Monday 29th September

Globe v Castle A

The Globe welcomed the Castle to their fully refurbished purple and lilac abode. Each player receiving a pleasant round of applause as they filtered in although Barry Darby did receive a hiss or two probably because he defected a couple of seasons ago in search of trophies.

  1. First up was Jack and Cogsy a bit like the story of the tortoise and the Hare with Cogsy going off like a Hare but not managing to hit his doubles and Jack grinding a 2-1 result out of it.

  2. Next up was Tom Mottram and Adam, and in form Adam saw him take a 2.0 win.

  3. Pete Marsh won the first leg against Norman who struggled to find his feet at first but showed his class in the end winning 2.1

  4. A bit of an indifferent game next saw Steve Johnson beat little Ritchie 2.0.

  5. Keith next still unbeaten managed to beat Jim.

  6. Last of the singles was Phil and Barry. A fine first leg by Barry saw him take a 1-0 lead but Phil bounced back with a brilliant 160 start in the second followed by treble 20 just missing treble 15 to leave a possible 6 darter. Phil eventually winning 2-1.

  7. Norman and Cogsy were first up in the doubles but found Keith and Tom Mottram too hard to handle both teams hitting 180's.

  8. Captain Culley and Don Harvey took on Graham and Adam in the last match Graham and Adam taking the first leg but with the cider kicking in Don hit several 100' s in the next couple of legs leaving Steve double top to finish he calmly strode up and hit the first dart to a generous round of applause from his team mates.

I don't know if it was the smell of fresh paint or taste of sour grapes but none of the Castle lads stopped to see Captain Graham win his match in the Captains cup finishing it in style with a magnificent 146.
