A Little News From The Players League Tables

First of all a little reminder from Graham that all Captains must hand in their Registration Forms, League Fees and Signing on Fees IMMEDIATELY!

Graham also says that players are whinging that the league tables always have missing results and never seem to be complete, but as he says if he doesn’t get the results promptly he can’t pass them on to me to update the tables. Players are in the town somewhere after a match on a Monday, and usually someone has a car ferrying the players about, so it is not much trouble to drop off the results at the Castle on their way home. It seems that a couple of results are missing and as Graham points out Captains should keep their own duplicate results book for at least half a dozen very good reasons, not least being to provide a copy if a result does go missing and also to query any wrong results. Graham will provide any team with a FREE RESULT BOOK if they ask or for the vast sum of about £1 they can buy a small notebook from just about anywhere!

Now for a little lighter news with a few comments about the Players win Tables.

Jacky McFarlane of the Hope And Anchor, one of our very best Lady players, had heard people talking about our web-site, but had not seen it until the weekend when she was visiting  her sister, so I am told. She was delighted to look at the Players Ranking list and see that she was no 15 out of some 160 odd players. She was even more pleased to see that she was actually above Committee member Phil Mason who is one of our best players (Or so he tells everyone!)

Jacky has been mentioned before on the web-site for her consistently excellent playing in last years article, “A Little News From Around The Boards” after she had beaten Jim Baird. Jim, who is one of my team-mates from the Prince,  is currently number one in the doubles rankings.

While talking of the doubles rankings it was interesting to note that although Geof Taylor has not been to the last two matches he actually went up one position in the doubles rankings on the last update this weekend. Geof moved up from number 5 to number 4 because D Clews of the Swan recorded his first loss and thereby moved down with the same number of wins and legs for, but more losses!

In the singles D Clews has the same number of match wins as the leaders, team-mate Ryan Herrington and P Bateman from Libbys, but has less legs for, so he is number 4 in the rankings. Ryan Herrington for those that don’t yet know him, is not only one of our best players, but also one of our youngest. He is hoping that one day he can obtain sponsorship and maybe even turn Pro. He does have a couple of Diary pages about himself and his performances that he adds to sometimes. Link

Just to end on a weird one; anybody that looked at the players listing the other week would have seen that I left a BYE in the players listing, (The only one so far this season) and the BYE was halfway up the players rankings in both the singles and doubles, as it had less losses to its name than half the real players!
