Presentation Night Summer 06

There was nearly a slight Hic Up with the trophies this year because at 3pm on the big day I had  NONE! The trophy man had gone on holiday and not engraved the trophies before going away. He came back that very Monday morning and late in the afternoon phoned me to say they were done, so it all ended well. (PHEW!)

We started the evening with eight players challenging Phil “The Power” Taylor and of course nobody came close to beating him except Violet Knapton. Some of you may know of Violet (Charlie Burns mother) but it was an extra special birthday treat for her as she was 80 years young on Monday. Phil, the great sport that he is, made it a really memorable day she won’t ever forget.

I had a bit of battery trouble (with the microphone.) I can usually make myself heard and I am not lost for words but they got lost in the excitement until the mike was sorted!

The "Power" presented the trophies to the enthusiastic winners who all wanted to shake the Maestros hand. After the formalities Phil spent a good hour talking and socialising with everybody.

A great night was had by all who came and many thanks must go to Phil Taylor who made the evening so special.
