The
Rugeley Mens Monday Night Darts League is now well established and this Web-site
is attracting more regular surfers from within the league, so I thought it was
about time to start writing an article introducing the new season each year
outlining some of the team changes that darts players might like to know about.
I used to do this every season in the Weston darts league that I no longer run
and it was quite well received.
Graham
has kept the number of teams to 16, because it would cause problems if any more
were allowed to enter, as the season would run on to long not allowing enough
time for all the Knock Outs and everything else. Some teams always drop out of
any league at the end of a season so this allows new ones to enter and replace
them anyway.
The
Power Station had two teams last time but have entered only one this time and
the Pear Tree pub along with the Crown at Handsacre and Brereton Town FC have
also dropped out.
The
Prince of Wales is a new team this season as is the Britannia who are mostly the
old Chase side. It’s nice to see the Globe back in and we have 3 sides entered
from the Plough this time.
The
Moderation lads of old seem to have split up and gone their separate ways being
replaced by an entirely new team that includes 3 or 4 ladies which could prove
interesting. We already have teams with a couple of Ladies in such as the Hope
And Anchor, but it could lead to some interesting games and results with the
typical male chauvinist attitudes that a lot of our players have. If they get
beaten by some of these ladies they could get some barracking from their team
mates.
One
or two teams have been on the recruitment trail with the Pear Tree Club poaching
superstar Will Hall from Libbys and also gaining Skin Thompson from the defunct Pear
Tree pub side.
