Team Changes 2009-2010
The
League has now seen 3 matches played and teams are starting to settle down a bit
and find out who their regular players are. As usual there have been many
changes in the line up of teams. Firstly, it is great to see that the Mansfield
have stayed in the league after their opening season last year and it is a shame
that we have lost the Pig and Bell, the Albion, the Castle “B” and Libbys
United. After much too-ing and fro-ing the Prince of Wales “B” side stayed
in and the Moderation are back in with some of their old team including
Robinson, Smith and George Hylton.
Other
Moderation players have been recruited from the old Libbys United side and
include Bugler, Carthy, Perry and Alcock. The rest of the old Libbys United,
team including Scraggy, Bugler, Aston, Rowbotham and Cowie have gone to make up
the new Globe team who have rejoined the league after a short absence. (Last
season the old Globe team moved en masse to the Vaults where they have stayed.)
John “Ticker” Brindley does not seem to be able to find a team where he feels at home. Last year he played for Libbys “A” and the year before he played for the Castle “A,” but this season he has moved to the Pear Tree Club. Although on past performances they didn’t really need him to strengthen their side as they win everything anyway!
Other
player’s movements that might be of interest include Kevin Birt, who has gone
to the Miners arms for his first real season of darts as a regular player in the
Monday League, where he has already started to make his presence felt.
The
11 years old lad, D Williams, of the Plough Wanderers, has caused waves even
though we are only 3 weeks into the season. In his very first match he hit a 105
and 114 start, which is pretty good going for any mature, experienced, darts
player never mind a junior! Unfortunately his age has also caused more waves,
but if you want to see what has been said about that you will have to go on the GuestBook.
