Match Reports

01 October 05
Bassingbourn Youth 9-1 Bottisham
After a warm welcome from Bassingbourn, Bottisham set to the task of trying not to let in 20 goals! This we achieved and managed to score with Abbie making a good break. The girls played with enthusiasm and were not disheartened by the score. Elizabeth played well in defence with Ellie getting more confident in goal. Charlotte and Phoebe ran their socks off in midfield and all the girls put in 100% effort. We are enjoying our first season in the league.
08 October 05
Bottisham 0-6 Bishop Stortford Comm

Bottisham started really well and gave a strong Bishop Stortford team the run around for most of the 1st half. Ellie pulled of some excellent saves, keeping the score at 0-0. Shelby and Elizabeth were great in defence marking up the front players successfully. Abbie and Jazimin, upfront got more breaks this week but were unable to score. When Bishop Stortford got the breakthrough the girls still didin't give up and kept hassling the players. In the second half Bottisham relaxed their marking and Bishop Stortford stormed through to well deserved win. In typical Bottisham style the girls kept battling throughout the match and should be really pleased with their efforts.

Firstly we would like to thank Kevin and his girls for a very warm welcome. Cambridge City Girls are an exceptional team. But Bottisham kept battling throughout this game and Fiona and I are very proud of them. Like Kevin said the scoreline is not important it's how the girls play and develop their skills. Girl of the match was Jiao, Jiao played in a new position and played very well. Fiona and I are proud of our girls as they never let their heads drop and they keep on battling in the true Bottisham spirit.

Burwell Tigers 2-1 Bottisham
Well what a game we had today. The girls played outstanding. Fiona and I were so proud of the girls today - they passed the ball, they got into space - and Jasmine scored a fantastic goal. Well done to you all girls. It was a very tight game, end to end with tackles, passing and a great team effort all round. Burwell equalised in the first half and we held them right till the end when they got their winning goal, but what a game. Thank you Burwell for being so friendly and giving us a great game. Well done to all the girls.
15 April 06
Comberton Crusaders 6-0 Bottisham
We knew Comberton would be a tough team, and they were! BUT for the first 15 mins we held them to nil nil. Our girls are getting better at marking and hassling the players but a couple of soft goals caused them to lose heart. Hannah with her cracked toe is typical of the Bottisham girls spirit - they come out and try their hardest and enjoy themselves. We're letting in less goals but our target for next season is to start scoring more. Happy Easter.
22 April 06
Sutton Stirling 0-1 Bottisham
This game was a very friendly very even game. Firstly I would like to thank all the Sutton players and Manager for being very friendly and very polite throughout the game - very sporting and real good fun. All of the Bottisham players commented on how nice you all were. Thank you. Bottisham played outstanding football today they marked well, and passed the ball around to all of their team mates. Then Ellie scored a good goal in the second half, even she was shocked. Well done Ellie for a fantastic game. All of our players enjoyed today not just becuase they won, But because they all love playing football. We may not be the best in league but I think all our girls have the right attitude and spirit to keep their football fun. Well done girls
29 April 06
Bottisham 0-6 Walden Spirit Girls
Bottisham finished their first season on a high even though we have had very few victories this season; all of us have made some great friends and have really enjoyed being part of the Bottisham team and organisation with the Cambs FA. Bottisham played really well they defended and passed the ball really well, well done to you all girls. We always have a great turn out for the matches. I'd like to thank all parents and friends who turn up each week and support the girls it's really good to see everyone enjoying themselves. Many thanks also go to Fiona, my coaching partner - her dedication and enthusiasm are much appreciated. We played almost two completely different line ups for the two halves of the match, due to the fortuitous fact that almost all of the squad was available. All of the team played really well: Jasmine was outstanding as usual in midfield as was Phebe who we will miss next season as she will be playing under 11's again. Shelby and Tiff upfront didn't get much of a chance for a goal but they played well. Hannah made some fantastic saves in goal and the defenders played really well. Well done to the Walden Spirit team - they played outstanding football. Paul has done a fantastic job with them, considering they are almost a new team. Well done to Paul and your coaching team.
