Little
Downham Eagles 4-7 Bottisham
We went into this game with great confidence after an emphatic
win against this same team a few weeks ago, but it turned out
to not be as easy as first thought. The game started evenly until
Sam Hawkes' pacey run opened the Downham defence and lead to a
mistake from the keeper, to give him a well deserved goal. Bottisham
then pressed on and went 4-0 up thanks to a Chris Jones goal,
and two from Tom Dance. Downham then pegged one back but Tom was
on hand again to make it 5-1 at the half time whistle. In the
second half, Tom was straight in with another goal after some
great work in midfield, but Downham did not give up. They got
three goals back to make it 6-4 but in the last few minutes Tom
put one more past the goalkeeper and made the task impossible
for Downham. A good team performance and Bottisham keep their
100% record in the league this year.

Crusaders 3-0 Bottisham
Bottisham went into this game with a weakened team thanks
to injuries and mainly the half term period, with key players
away on holiday. The game started well until Bottisham let in
two early goals. Luke Nudds and George Voice went closest to scoring
in the first half, both with free kicks, but the half time score
stayed 2-0. In the second half we saw a good start from the Bottisham
players but were unfortunate to go 3-0 down after about 10 minutes
played. Bottisham kept pressing but were unable to break the strong
defence of the Crusaders. George once again went close but the
keeper made a good save and the ball was stopped on the line.
Alex Stearn did brilliantly to stop another goal with a goal line
clearance but the game finished 3-0 in the end. Not a bad performance
from the team but a disappointing result

Bottisham
0-10 KC Cougars
The game started quickly and we were soon 1-0 up thanks to
Luke Nudds' close range finish from a corner. After this we pressed
more, from this pressure we were rewarded with more goals, two
from Tom Dance and one from Chris Jones. Before half time we went
5-0 and then 6-0 up with two more goals from Tom, one of which
came from a delightful run past three defenders, and a tidy finish.
6-0 at half time and our confidence was high. In the second half,
Cougars looked like they may get one back, but for a great last
ditch tackle by Mark Nelson. This was the last of the pressure
that the Bottisham defence saw all afternoon, as Chris fired in
his second goal from the edge of the area. Tom added another two
on to his ever-growing tally - which is now 32 goals in 7 games.
Towards the end of the game the Cougars gave up and Josh Cullum
added the finishing touch to a great performance with a volley
from a tight angle.

Plantation
Youth 4 -1 Bottisham
We started the game well and created many chances, first fell
to George, who put the ball in the net from close range, but was
then flagged offside by the linesman. 0-0 still. Five minutes
later Tom was on hand to slot home an effort from 6 yards, but
was also flagged offside, so still 0-0. Again we pressed and created
another chance, this fell to George again, who's shot was quite
obviously cleared off the line using a hand, but no penalty awarded.
Nothing was going our way, and when Plantation scored from a very
unlucky mistake by Dan in the Bottisham goal, heads went straight
down. Josh Watts had the next opportunity, off the outside of
his left foot but hitting the far post. Plantation then scored
again, and it was 2-0 at half time. Five minutes into the second
half, George Voice took the ball on the edge of the area, turned
his marker and lobbed the keeper from about 20 yards. This gave
a bit of momentum, but when we went 3-1 down, heads yet again
went down. This time an own goal after a mix up between keeper
and defender. It became 4-1 soon after with yet another own goal,
the ball driven against Sam Hawkes and unfortunately into the
goal. A disappointing result but everyone gave 100%.

Bottisham
2 - 7 Sawston [KO Cup R2]
Bottisham started the game well, creating a few chances. After
about 15 minutes Sawston capitalised on a mix up between defender
and goalkeeper and slotted the ball home from about 3 yards. Then
about 5 minutes later it was 2-0 after a very lucky toe poke clipped
the inside of the post and somehow went in. and soon after that
it was 3-0. A powerful volley from 10 yards left Sam Hawkes in
the Bottisham goal with no chance. Half time came, and a much
needed rest for the Bottisham squad. In the second half Bottisham
managed to pull one back with Chris Jones scoring his 6th goal
of the season from close range. Soon after came the first injury
of the game, when Sean over-stretched and had his leg taken from
beneath him, he was carried off and Jake came on as a replacement.
Then after persistent pressure from the Bottisham team, the second
goal came, Luke Nudds' flick from the corner, sent flying in past
the far post by Mark Nelson, his first ever goal for the club.
But the hard work was soon undone after the Sawston captain ran
past 4 players and slotted home. They then went on to score three
more goals making it 7-2. Bottisham had done nothing wrong, but
were just outclassed by the C league team, who were deserved of
the win, they progress but Bottisham out of both cups now. But
the league title is still well within reach for the team.

Bottisham
2 - 0 Fowlmere Colts
Bottisham started the game very well, putting the Fowlmere
defence under a lot of pressure. Chances were coming but none
clear-cut enough for a goal. The closest effort was from Jack
after a lovely bit of passing between the whole team to put him
in, but sadly the shot went wide. The first half finished 0-0
with nothing in it, but after the late arrival of Dan Stockbridge,
Bottisham now had Tom Dance back up front for the second half
after doing well in goal for the first, and he instantly made
his class show, slotting home a lovely goal from the edge of the
area. The pressure kept being applied to the Fowlmere defence
who defended well, but when Jack headed down a Chris Jones corner,
Tom was on it in a flash and somehow managed to slot it home from
a difficult angle, showing why he will be playing for Histon in
the near future. Other chances came but no goals came as a reward
for the constant pressure. It finished 2-0 to Bottisham and Fowlmere's
unbeaten record this season was ended by a brilliant all round
team performance.

Bottisham
2 - 1 Little Downham Eagles
Bottisham were looking to start the New Year well after nearly
a month without a game. Little Downham started well, as did we.
A spell of pressure from Little Downham was broken down, and a
Bottisham counter attack ended up with a corner, the header from
Luke Nudds, straight at the keeper. But it was Little Downham
who struck first, a messy piece of defending, and a messy finish,
but the ball was in the net and it was 1-0. Another corner was
won by Bottisham, and the great ball was met by the head of Xander,
who powered it passed the keeper. 1-1 at half time, and not a
great performance so far. But the second half could not have started
better, a through ball putting Sam Hawkes in on goal, and he was
never going to miss from 10 yards. 2-1 it stayed for the most
of the match, but towards the end Downham scored, a shot, parried
by Dan in the Bottisham goal, but gathered again only to be kicked
out of the keepers hands, a furious Bottisham team protested as
the goal was given, but after a word with the linesman, the decision
was reversed. 2-1 it finished to the dismay of the Downham players
and supporters, but a hard earned 3 points for the Bottisham side,
chasing the D league title.
