Under 6s Match Reports

12th March Bottisham U 6s 14 Waterbeach 0
To say we hit the ground running is an understatement! The captain my Edward scored in the opening seconds and every player performed better than I could ever imagine. Jack was brilliant and scored next on the way to bagging 9! Harry “diver” Darling grabbed a brace, Alexander poached one and Harry Taylor's speculative long range effort must have swerved in front of the keeper! Waterbeach never gave up and were unlucky on several occasions but Hugh was immense in goal. Luke and Ben N were solid in defence, while Callum and Sean-francis covered the mid field area with My Ed covering every blade of grass including his goal celebration! Edward B battled hard as did Ben L and Thomas. I’m so proud of them all 10/10 for effort/commitment and team spirit.
Scorers: Edward F , Jack (9) , Harry D (2), Alexander and Harry T
MOM: Jack!

19th March Waterbeach 0 Bottisham U 6s 3
“Football is a funny old game”, we lost 3 players from previous week. The boys may have been nervous because we were away but preferred to stand in the middle of the pitch to discuss Harry t’s party that afternoon or the great facilities of Waterbeach, than get stuck in! Overall possession was 50/50 and the opposition seemed stronger but Hugh was “huge” in goal and made several excellent saves. We missed the killer instinct today but finally broke the deadlock when Harry D’s bending corner was netted by the Waterbeach defence. Sean-francis was inspired maybe because his grandma was watching? And scored. We finally grabbed a third from my Ed, who keeps up his 100% of scoring in each game and the lap of honour to celebrate! Bradley battled hard on his debut and the captain Luke worked tirelessly!
Scorers: OG, Sean-Francis, Edward F
MOM:Hugh!

2nd April Bottisham U 6s 6 Milton Colts 3
Again the first period of the match found our boys somewhat sluggish and tired (had they been into town the night before?) Milton took full advantage and took a 2-0 lead.
After the first break and pep talk Bottisham seemed to wake up and Sean-Francis scored. However we then gifted a third to our visitors. Thankfully the grey mist disappeared and the boys started to play the football we know they can play. Sean-Francis scored his second and the skipper Harry D scored. Our fourth was an OG from Harry’s corner. Edward F worked hard so did Harry T. A free kick from edge of area was crashed home by Sean for his hat-trick! Luke, Callum, Alexander and Thomas did well and there was a big cheer when Hugh returned from holiday in time to play in goal. Scorers: Sean-Francis(3), Harry D and OG
MOM: Sean-Francis

23rd April Milton Colts 1 Bottisham 7
Like our first outing all the squad were up for this away game, maybe they had Friday night in for once! Harry T was captain and could have been mistaken for Gerrard, as for my Edward again his work rate and coverage was excellent maybe Lampard in the making? Jack kept up his scoring record and grabbed a brace in the first period, his goal/match ratio far superior to that of Owen. In the 2nd period we were awarded free kick 10 metres from goal and with encouragement Jack completed his hat-trick with a cracking goal. Luke and both Bens battled hard across the middle of the pitch and Alexander through sheer perseverance scored an individual goal. Harry “diver” D grabbed a brace with good work from Thomas and Callum. Edward B was like a little terrier nipping away at the opposition. While discussing the great facilities of Milton the team forgot we were still playing and gave away a soft goal. Hugh was mean as usual in goal stopping every effort and when he came on pitch for the final period Sean-francis with assistance from Charlie regained our 6 goal advantage. Lastly, all through this match one player namely Bradley did what was asked of him “last man” and nothing but nothing got passed him, maybe another Terry in the making?
Scorers: Jack 3, Alexander, Harry D 2 and Sean-Francis:
MOM: Bradley
