25th October 2003

Div 8C Bottisham 4 - 2 Soham United

On a very cold wintry morning it took a while for Bottisham to get started after falling behind to an early goal in the 8th minute. Bottisham quickly reassembled and for the remainder of the quarter had the majority of the play with no reward. Michael had several good chances to score, hit the post and was very unlucky. Sam also came very close.
In the second quarter Bottisham were well on top and were rewarded with a goal from Sam to bring the score level. We quickly added another to make it 2-1, again, a good goal from Sam. Michael was very unlucky again, as was Jack who had one of his best games for the U8's.
In the third quarter, again Bottisham were well on top with another well taken goal from Sam to make his hat-trick for the second game in a row to make the score 3-1.
In the last quarter we had good performances especially from Jiminy and Ryan, our two youngest players, but Soham still managed to score to bring it back to 3-2. Bottisham quickly made a substitution bringing Sam on, who, with his first touch of the ball ran the length of the pitch to score a superb 4th goal and ensure Bottisham won 4-2
It was a good all-round team performance with everyone playing to their full potential.
Even though Sam scored four goals the Man of The Match went to Michael for all his hard work, skill, and providing the passes to enable Sam to score.
A big thanks to Martin Benton for the thankless task of refereeing. Well done Martin.
