"It's not that we were bad; we were just alive; and that can lead to all kinds of everything."

Synopsis
Two disaffected youths, Leo and Nic, having stolen an powerful new narcotic (known as Angel Tears) from their local dealer Lynch, break into a disused warehouse to enjoy the spoils of their crime. There they find a dead body. They return to their nerdy schoolfriend Milton (heavily into D&D, black magic and the like) who assures them he knows a way to reanimate the corpse. All they need to complete the spell is a drop of blood from an 'innocent'. The nearest they can think of is Kate, the 'nice girl' from school and Leo's would-be girlfriend.

Kate recruited, they return to the warehouse and begin the ritual; sure enough, the corpse (Straker) comes to life. However, as Straker begins to hunt down and kill our heroes, it's soon clear that maybe they have brought the wrong soul back into the world ...

Comment
Not a bad opening for Urban Gothic's first run on television. The twin themes of drugs and death are handled well, and the episode has a great deal of energy. The kids are well played by the various actors, but the show is really stolen by Kevin Molloy's Straker as a very spooky presence (also nice to see Stephen King's novel Salem's Lot referenced in the use of the name 'Straker' as this was the name of the associate of the mysterious Mr Barlow).

Complaints
Despite all the scenes of death and violence, the ITC received five complaints from viewers concerning a scene where a frog is apparently liquidised in a blender. The ITC did not uphold the complaint. Full details on the complaint can be found at the ITC Website
