"Species are Not Immutable." Charles Darwin 1859

Synopsis
Detective Inspector Rachel Winter and Officer Jim Takeshi are called in to investigate a series of bizarre deaths in which three victims - killed on subsequent nights - have each had one vital organ removed. Investigation reveals that in each case the missing organ had been transplanted. Furthermore, each of the transplants was carried out by the same surgeon - a Doctor Richard Myles - and there is only one patient who has received a transplant from Myles: 21 year old student Leila Haze.

Investigations reveal mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of Leila's mother, and Leila escapes from her hospital ward having killed a nurse. Takeshi discovers that Myles has in fact been carrying out illegal genetic experiements in cloning transplant organs from apes...

Comment
Another confusing and yet atmospheric tale. Some of the scenes of blood and gore are very strong, and yet somewhere in the edit much of the meaning has been lost - a common problem with Urban Gothic. The basis is complex: cloning, genetics, and animal experimentation, with some supernatural manifestations added in for good measure. Bloody fun stuff, but don't expect to understand it!
