The MoCFT is entirely a volunteer organisation. Every success that we have and every step of progress that we make is down to the efforts of people who simply like to be involved in the organisation.
We have a good core of volunteers but we always need more. Many of the tasks are not specifically communications related or technical. We need a broad range of skills from fundraising to rubbish clearing and everything in between.
We have a building to maintain; the more we can do ourselves, the less money we need to raise. We have an exhibition programmes and education and awareness programmes to develop and progress. It all takes volunteers who are willing to put in the effort . The rewards are a home to call our own and the satisfaction of meeting visitors who have enjoyed what they have seen and learned at our premises.
At 131 High Street in Burntisland, a great deal of work has been done since we became
owners in November 2003. We have refurbished parts of the building and have set up
and are running annual exhibitions. Many tasks have already been completed to get
to where we are now. However, there remain quite a number of building-
We are generally at 131 every Saturday from 10am. Wednesday is a working day for some and other days or evenings can be arranged to suit your availability. The tasks are specific and well bounded, several would involve you being in a 2 or 3 person team so it’s not all up to you on your own. Here are some tasks that need volunteers:
• Assist in data collection to improve Collection Management
• Do interactive exhibit design and build for this years exhibition
• Modify the Security Alarm System to meet our needs
• Deal with some minor roof repairs
•
Deal with minor floor repairs at back of building
• Create video presentations for
this years exhibition
We also need people who will take on particular roles and work towards specific goals and objectives for the Museum
• Education Programme Co-
• Building Co-
Can you help with any of these? Do you have other skills to offer?
Come along on a
Saturday to see what needs to be done. If you want more details first, give Roger
Shivas a call on 01592 872478 or email him at rshivas@aol.com
