Collection

The Museum can only display a small fraction of its collections at anytime. Therefore, this virtual exhibition has been created to allow you to browse through some of the more interesting artefacts. It traces the development of communication from pre-electric telegraph to the present time, covering early electrics, telegraphy, telephony, radio and television.

The current collection includes telephony instruments and exchanges; all types of radio receiving and transmitting equipment, including a BBC radio control studio; all types of audio equipment; domestic television and video equipment; professional television cameras (B&W and colour) and studio equipment; early experimental radar; computing equipment; military communications equipment; satellite, photographic and printing equipment and a small technical library composed of scientific literature and related documentation. It represents what may prove to be the 'prehistory' of the Age of Electronic Communication, into which our post-industrial society is being rapidly propelled.
