Vital Weekly
One more track has the release by (VxPxC), a trio of Justin McInteer, Grant Capes and Tim Goodwillie. Their drones are played on an organ, alongside with percussion - I would tend to think two of them play percussion and one the organ. Occasionally there is some sort of vocal use, which might go down as singing. A guitar is played in 'Gentle Rolling' - which serves the title well - it's gentle rumble rolling here. All recorded in 'Echo Park, Los Angeles, California', but it sounds still like a shed. This is the American leg of the world wide movement of lo-fi noise makers (and of course the country where all of this music is hailed as the next masters of the genre). Also alright this one.
Wonderful Wooden Reasons
Part dada-ist circus music montage, part industrial soundscape, these unwieldy named Americans have produced an album that Throbbing Gristle would have been happy to put their name to. The instrumentation is buried in the production morass but the ideas are very much to the fore. Occasional dirge-like vocals do strain my attention a little but they are few and the music is generally carried along by a willingness and a wilfulness that is to be admired.
