Deborah is a great lover of the North-east of Scotland's 'Doric' dialect. Her love for the 'Mither Tung' has prompted her to pen many Doric short stories and poems, some of which have been published in the North-east's Leopard magazine.

 
The 2004 Buchan Heritage Society's Festival

Deborah is currently working on a collection of Doric short stories.

Deborah won 1st prize in the 2003 Senior Short Story category of the Buchan Heritage Society's annual festival. This year's 2004, 20th anniversary festival saw her retain her 1st prize trophy and also be placed 2nd equal in the story telling category.
