Dennis Mitchell always had an
ambition to make Banjo Ukuleles, but only one kind - copies of the pre
war Abbott Monarch.
On his retirement in October 1999 he started to fulfil that ambition by
designing a Banjo Ukulele which would to be almost identical with that
instrument.
After several months of research and development, many hours of trial
and error, the first instrument was completed on the 18th May 2000. As
it was the Millennium year he called it the Mitchell 'Monarch 2K',
although this is only marked inside the rim of the wooden hoop.
To date he has manufactured 13 instruments and they are beautiful with a
sound to match. |
