Derwent Athletic Club Cockermouth
Derwent Athletic Club Cockermouth is based on Kirkgate in Cockermouth, behind the Bitter End pub. Click here for a map.
The Club meets twice a week to train and also runs a number of races each year.
Training
The Club meets to train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 18:30 at the Club house, which is situated across the car park behind the Bitter End, Kirkgate, Cockermouth. Runners of all standards and abilities are welcome.
Tuesday evening training is usually some sort of speed work/interval session that allows training as a group, where individuals can train at a pace suitable to their own requirements and current fitness levels.
Thursday evening training is generally a steady run, with some raised tempo work sometimes thrown in. Usually covering 5 – 6 miles. During the winter months (dark evenings) these tend to be around the town, so there are plenty of opportunities to cut down the distance (certain club runners know all the short cuts). We have been know to head out in the country on the occasional moon light run (well only once really). With lighter evenings we head out of town to enjoy the fells (or roads when its wet) around Cockermouth.
