We will wander, in the footsteps of Sherlock Holmes and
John Watson, through some of the obscure byways as well as the principal
thoroughfares of the City of London before finishing at Saxe Coburg* Square
mentioned by Watson in his account of "The Red Headed League".
Saxe Coburg square isn't listed in either the Victorian or Current A-Z but Detective Walks have discovered the true location of Jabez Wilson's Pawnbroker business and Mr Merryweather's Gold Bullion by putting the clues mentioned in The Strand Magazine and Kelly's 1890 Post Office Directory onto the Five Foot to the mile Ordnance Map.
The Walk will also visit
sites mentioned in the following stories:
A Case of Identity;
The Beryl Coronet;
The Blanched Soldier;
The Final Problem;
The Man with the Twisted Lip;
The Mazarin Stone;
The Norwood Builder;
The Stockbroker's Clerk;
The Sussex Vampire.
Meet at Ponti's Restaurant (upper level, inside Liverpool Street station) for an 11.00 start. The wander will finish at a suitable pub near Saxe Coburg Square for lunch.
