Baptism

One of the key beliefs of Baptist churches is their belief in, and practice of, “believer’s baptism” by total immersion - a special public declaration made by someone who has come to a personal faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord. It is an outward demonstration of an inward experience: a symbolic picture of being buried and raised to new life, through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Although the majority of church members at Dewsbury Baptist Church have been baptised, we do practice a system of membership which is open to all who profess repentance towards God and faith in Jesus Christ.
